What is YOUtopia?

YOUtopia is San Diego’s official Burning Man regional event celebrating the culture and principles of Burning Man. YOUtopia will take place at the beautiful DeAnza Springs Resort just outside of Jacumba Hot Springs on October -14th – 18th, 2026.

What is a Burning Man regional event?

Burning Man only happens once a year, but Burner culture is alive and well year-round. Burning Man regional events are held all over the world and are based on the Ten Principles, empowering Burner ethos to thrive far and wide. YOUtopia is part of a long tradition of bringing the magic of the playa to the rest of the world while also celebrating the vibrant creative and communal elements of San Diego and the surrounding areas.

YOUtopia Theme

YOUtopia celebrates the creativeness of its collective attendees. Each year, the San Diego Regional Burning Man Event dons a new theme through the submission of ongoers, staff, and community. The theme is echoed throughout the entire Event from the Theme Camp decorations to the costumes of the people enjoying the Event.

The YOUtopia 2026 theme is Luminous Playground

Welcome to the playground of collective imaginations! When your inner child can create and flow with the desert night; the playground is an invitation for self-discovery through creative intuition. Generate your own bioluminescence tapping into your shadow self in moment-by-moment discoveries. Leave the third dimension behind and travel further into resonance, incandescence, and movement as a tribe of energy explorers. Together our output is magnified!

Dive deep into a puddle of possibility. We vibrate together as a collective and enlighten each other in the process. Shine bright and beat your drum for your eternally young spirit. Return to innocence and drop your baggage at the gates (along with your cell service). Disconnect from the grid (and social media) to immerse in a precious moment apart from linear time communing in your natural form. Delight in the diversity of visual, auditory, and personal intimacy. We want to know you at your deepest core expression with no judgments. Let that joy illuminate your spirit and heal our inner (sad) child with unconditional love.

We call forward artists, musicians, performers and light workers. Beasties and furries, water nymphs and faeries of all kinds are welcome. Share with us. Our Luminous Playground is where we all co-create the biodome of our spirits and feed the hungry creatures within. Detach from the matrix and dance between all the worlds. Create a space with us in the flow between creation and destruction. Out of the night comes the dawn of a new day…out of chaos comes inspiration.

COMMUNITY

YOUtopia is about community and fellowship among all. Creating an environment where all feel safe and welcome.

CREATIVITY

BE Yourself. Let your imagination take hold and become the art that you love.

MUSIC

Established sound camps, DJs, musicians, and theme camps can, and often, play music continuously throughout the event. From soothing sound circles to high-energy dance parties, YOUtopia observes that all music is special and appreciated.

INDIVIDUALITY

Importantly, YOUtopia is about…YOU. Make the event your home with plenty to see and do. We strive to create an environment where people feel at ease to be their true selves in whatever expression fills that vision.
