Vehicles & Parking

Our Traffic and Parking team wants to help you with all of your parking, RV and car camping questions. Please read the information below carefully.

Which Parking Pass is Right for You?

In addition to your General Admissions Ticket, all vehicles at YOUtopia, with the exception of motorcycles, must have the appropriate vehicle pass. Learn more about the different vehicle passes below.

People riding in on motorcycles will be allowed to have their motorcycle in their camp, and will not be required to park their motorcycle in the parking area. IMPORTANT: your motorcycle must remain in your camp throughout the event.

Vehicles that are the same size or smaller than a camper van or cab-over pickup truck are covered by a car pass. This ticket admits one vehicle (not an RV or motorcycle) to park within the designated parking areas. Parking Passes may not park in open camping.

  • Class B 20 ft and under can use a Parking Pass

Vehicles that are the same size or smaller than a camper van or cab-over pickup truck are covered by a car pass. This ticket admits one vehicle (not an RV or motorcycle) to park within the venue, either with a camp or in open camping. There are a limited number of passes and we strongly encourage you to carpool when possible.

  • Class B 20 ft and under can use an In-Camp Parking Pass

An RV is defined as any vehicle, independently or when towing another vehicle or trailer, that is bigger than a camper van or cab-over pickup truck. RVs will be accommodated with the purchase of an RV pass. RV passes do not include an RV drop. There are a limited number of passes available for RV’s or trailers and they are available on a first-come, first-served basis until we sell out. RV FAQs

APPROVED support vehicles of any size necessary to support Theme Camps or Art, cleared pre-event by a Theme Camp Liaison, Art Curation Lead, or member of our Placement team, may be granted complimentary an Art Support Vehicle Pass.

Parking Pass

Vehicles with Parking Passes must park in the designated Parking Areas and may not park in open camping.

You will be given a 2 hour window to drop off your gear at your chosen camp site after which you need to move your car to the parking lot and walk back to camp. If you need assistance to get back to your camp, please contact one of our helpful Road Warriors stationed at the parking lots for transportation.

In-Camp Parking Pass

Cars with In-Camp Parking Passes will be allowed to park within your camp.

In-camp parking will operate on a first come, first served basis, but please be mindful of leaving space for other camps and campers. All vehicles staying in the camping areas need to park away from the road. Please place the interactive areas toward the front of the camp. This will ensure that YOUtopia stays engaging and fun for all. Vehicles are not allowed to drive around the event and should stay stationary until it’s time to leave.

Support Vehicle Pass

RVs or cars that are an integral part of your art or camp infrastructure are allowed to park in-camp with pre-event approval from our placement team. You can contact them at placement@sdyoutopia.com. Vehicles are not allowed to drive around the event and should stay stationary until it’s time to leave.

RV FAQs

If you have an RV, you must have the RV Pass visibly placed on your vehicle. RVs can park in designated RV ONLY areas. Please read on to learn the in and outs of bringing your RV to YOUtopia.

RV denotes any mobile and/or hard–sided vehicular structure you plan to sleep, eat, party and generally live in during the event. This includes; RVs, travel trailers/fifth wheels/toy haulers/etc. Camper vans and Cab over campers on a pickup truck are NOT considered an RV so you will just need the standard car pass to park your vehicle.

There will be two  RV parking options

Yes, please contact placement@sdyoutopia.com.

No. RV’s must park in the designated RV Parking Areas. This allows our thorough faire to remain engaging and not be blocked by large vehicles.

This site does not offer those options—you will need to plan accordingly. There are places nearby on the way in and out of the event that offer these services.

  • All RVs should be in good working order so as to not spontaneously combust.
  • RVs must have appropriate fire suppression means. Ideally one ABC fire extinguisher located within the living area and one placed in direct reach of the generator.
  • Gas lines should be tested and in usable shape. Propane bottles will ideally be sheltered from direct sunlight.
  • Generators should be kept at least 20 ft away from your RV. Additionally, the exhaust should face away from the RV and surrounding RV’s doors, windows, vents and other openings. For additional guidance, please read: https://sdyoutopia.com/policies/#generator
  • NO! Your RV should be completely free from leaks of any kind (oil, antifreeze, gray/black water, battery acid… etc). Out of respect for the land and  our venue, it is imperative to do your very best to  prevent leakage of toxic substances. If your RV has leaks, please come up with a solid plan of mitigation: for example, staked down trays with absorbent items such as heavy duty absorbent pads, clay cat litter, or carpet scraps.
  • Keep a bucket and shovel handy to remove any contaminated soil and take it home with you.
  • However you decide to mitigate any leaks is up to you—please know what to expect and have a plan to LNT.
